Staten Island marina getting 100 new slips

The National Park Service selected Moonbeam Leasing and Management to operate Great Kills Marina in Staten Island, N.Y., at Gateway National Recreation Area.

Previously known as Nichols Great Kills Park Marina, the facility will be upgraded with 100 additional slips. The marina had been badly damaged during Hurricane Sandy.

“Great Kills Marina is such an important asset to the Staten Island boating community,” Jen Neresian, superintendent of Gateway National Recreation Areasaid in a statement. “We have made great investments in rebuilding this facility since Hurricane Sandy and are committed to its continued use in serving the public.”

NPS selected Moonbeam based on the company’s ability to reconfigure, upgrade and improve the marina. The company is a subsidiary of Moonbeam Capital Investments, a private-equity fund that owns and redevelops residential properties.

Moonbeam Great Kills Marina will be open year-round, with the summer season beginning April 1. Management said all winter storage contracts and 2019 slip rates will be honored in 2020.
